Independence Day Celebrations - 2015 -

The village has a population of about 400 houses and school is a node center for surrounding villages from where the students attend.

About 70-80 students attend every year in the 10th std and has typically been getting 95-97% of scoring in their HS final state exams.

Here are some of the students and the program hosted in the school premises.

Government has announced the program where volunteers with varying backgrounds can go and help out rural children.

Rain tree - an update

This is the rain tree after 6 months of growing this in the rural school in the village where I visit often.

Teaching 8th graders mathematics

Children in 8th grade at a rural school in Kunigal - learning Basics of Algebra.

Rewarding 2013 - 10th Standard students. Aug 15- 2013

This event was held on Aug 15th 2013.

About 22 students who got 1st Class and distinction were felicitated with cash funds and other prizes at the school gathering.

Underprivileged 1st and 2nd graders were given free uniforms from family funds.

10th standard students who got distinction ( about 80% ) and first class ( above 60% ) were given cash awards.

Teachers being given some small cash awards as incentives for helping support the ancestral village and students.

Books Donated to the Rural library

These are from Navakarnataka book store in Bangalore. Bought these for children as gifts to those who excelled in situdying, or some school competition etc.

This is almost at the end of the School year and before they begin the preparatory classes. I made the students come to the board and chalk out the solutions to the problems. Here I can determine if the kids can figure it out by themselves or not.

Post planting trees - following season.

Students planting some saplings I bought from the Nursery in Bangalore.

Apparently - due to lack of guards or a proper fencing - the trees did not flourish, and in the process I must have lost a few saplings by now.

This was a good learning experience - although the school had a compound, it did not mean that the trees would come up.

Now, I have about 6 trees in all - coming a few centimeters high.

This is the 2012 SSLC Batch students going about school work.

They are doing Algebra and Progressions.Students get to come to the board and figure out the problems after I have taught them.
